A Journey to Becoming a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist

Therese Weisbrot, a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) in New York, embarked on her path to art therapy from a young age, inspired by exceptional teachers and the power of art. Her journey began in elementary school, where she was encouraged to create art, building confidence in her abilities. This foundation blossomed in high school, where she expanded her skills in various art forms such as painting, drawing, and photography. Her passion for art therapy was ignited by a painting teacher who introduced her to the field, leading her to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Art Therapy from the School of Visual Arts and a Master of Science in Art Therapy from the College of New Rochelle.

Extensive Experience Working with Diverse Populations

As a board-certified art therapist and certified child life therapist, Therese has dedicated her career to working with a wide range of individuals. She has worked with adults receiving psychiatric care, those battling substance use and mental health disorders, and individuals in residential care with developmental delays or HIV/AIDS. Therese also specializes in pediatric art therapy, supporting children with hematologic and oncologic conditions as well as those in pediatric emergency medicine. Her work is driven by a trauma-informed approach, ensuring safety and healing for each individual she serves.

Passion for Education: "Each One Teach One"

Therese is deeply committed to the transformative power of education. She believes in the principle of "each one teach one," emphasizing the importance of sharing knowledge and passion with others. Through teaching, she believes both the teacher and learner grow, creating an infectious cycle of learning and inspiration. This philosophy drives her to encourage others to explore the healing potential of art and creativity.
